| Circolo Velico Marsala will host the 2001 Lightning World Championship and we are very
happy to offer for the event our warm hospitality, our experience, our wonderful sea and
the ever blowing winds that make Marsala one of the best venue in the world. The Organizing Committee is already working to make this championship unforgettable. Many events will be organized and published at this web site. So it is recommended to set a bookmark to this page and periodically to visit it. Here are some of information about the Regatta Site: Sailing conditions: Regular wind (sea breeze) from north-west with wind speed between 10 and 16 knots and an average temperature of 28° Celtius. Local area: the club is placed in the west corner of Sicily just in front of the Egadi Islands. The race area will be located very close to the club. The average deepness of the sea is between 8 and 20 meters. Airports and shuttle: international travellers can reach Marsala by plane. The nearest airports are Trapani (10 Km from Marsala) and Palermo (100 Km from Marsala). The club will provide a shuttle for sailors who need it. Housing: download information about housing. Touristic information: very close to the club there are many touristic sites as
Mothya, Erice, Egadi Islands, Punic Ship, Selinunte, Segesta, Local Museum. Here are some
